BLACKPINK Jennie at Calvin Klein Collection in Seoul

BLACKPINK is the biggest girl group in the world today. If you have been following the girls since their debut, you might have noticed how they have had a glow-up themselves.

Let's examine the little changes they have made while I also provide tips to you guys for having your own glow-up at home.

Tip #1: Experiment with your Makeup

You have probably noticed how the girl's makeup has changed over the years from light and natural to a bold and colourful style that suits and accentuates their features.

All the members have different facial features. Jennie, for instance, has cat-like features. As a result, often, her makeup is focused around her eyes, accentuating them. Her eyes add to her beauty, making it easier for people to distinguish her from the other members. The makeup artist does a good job of bringing focus to her eyes.

Learn makeup in a way that accentuates your natural beauty, accentuating what you believe your best features are, whether that are your eyes, cheekbones, lips and so on. This will involve lots of experimenting with different colours, techniques, and makeup styles. An excellent way to find your style would be finding a celebrity with similar features as yours and replicating their makeup looks with whatever you have available at home. Of course, celebrities get their makeup done by professionals; it won’t be the same, but don’t be discouraged. Take your time, starting with natural looks and working your way up to more dramatic styles, and more glammed-up looks.

Tip #2: Match your Hair

Your hair plays a huge role in the way your look, from hairstyle to colour. The two main components when choosing a style and colour are your face shape and skin tone.

Lisa is a member who has had various colours and lengths of hair, but what remains the same is her iconic bangs. Why does she have bangs? Bangs are a great way to draw attention to the eyes and cheekbones, which are prominent features of Lisa's face, so this hairstyle allows Lisa to enhance her prominent features and create a balanced look.

Focus on face framing to accentuate the natural beauty of your facial features, such as your eyes, cheekbones, and jawline. Creating shorter or layered hair will help to draw attention to the areas you want and create a more balanced and proportionate look.

While choosing a hair colour, find one that fits your skin tone. Warm skin tones work well with warm hair colours like caramel and honey, while cool skin tones work well with cooler hair colours like ash blonde and platinum.

A member that I think had a huge glow-up is Rosé. Rosé’s hair colour has completely changed the way she looks, enhancing her beauty. Rosé has a fair complexion with a cool skin tone; black hair clashes with her skin tone, while light hair colours such as platinum blonde and pink add to her beauty, creating a fresh and youthful look.

Tip #3: Dress accordingly to your Body

The last thing to focus on is clothes. The way you dress yourself plays a key role in the way you look. BLACKPINK has an edgy yet feminine style, but each member is styled in a way that fits their beauty, more so their aesthetic. Jennie's chic and trendy, Jisoo's is feminine and elegant, Rosé's next-door girl, while Lisa is edgy and streetwear-inspired.

Start by identifying your personal style and what makes you feel comfortable and confident. Consider your lifestyle, personality, and preferences to determine what kind of clothes, colours, and accessories you feel most comfortable wearing.

The next most important part is body shape. Experiment with different silhouettes to find what works best for your body shape, whether you have an hourglass, pear, apple, or rectangle-shaped figure. There are many videos online and resources which can help you find your body type.

Add accessories to elevate the look!

Take Away

When looking at having your own glow-up, I want you to look at yourself and work towards enhancing your natural beauty. Handle one area at a time, whether you start with your makeup, clothes, or hair, and start experimenting while working towards accentuating your facial and bodily features.

Ultimately embrace yourself and go for what makes you feel confident. The way you carry yourself is the key to the way others will perceive you.
